Trans Maldivian Airways Expands Fleet to 56 Aircrafts

Trans Maldivian Airways welcomed the final Twin Otter Aircraft to its fleet as part of the expansion plan to add four seaplanes, with three of them having arrived in the earlier months.

The new Twin Otter aircraft landed at Velana International Airport on 21st January 2020.  With this addition, Transmaldivian will now have 56 seaplanes operating regularly.

TMA has played a pivotal role in developing the tourism infrastructure in Maldives and the latest addition to its fleet is in line with its commitment to serve the growing demand with the new upcoming resorts and also provide added flexibility to all its partner resorts.

A previous statement issued by TMA said

Trans Maldivian Airways has been on an expansion drive and announced their plans for the addition of four seaplanes to its fleet, with the arrival of the first seaplane in September 2019. The arrival of two more followed in December. And now the fourth one this year.

TMA is the main seaplane operator in Maldives and the largest seaplane operator in the world. With over 30 years of experience in aviation, TMA has been continuously growing. TMA started in 1989 under the name ‘Hummingbird Island Helicopters’, as helicopter operator. The transition to a seaplane only fleet was completed by 1999. In 2000, with the tourism industry flourishing, ‘Trans Maldivian Airways’ came into existence.

From its humble beginning, TMA has become the synonym for connecting the Maldives islands. Being the oldest air services operator in the Maldives and becoming the largest seaplane operator in the world is a remarkable achievement.

Each session is thoughtfully crafted to help participants not only practice yoga but also experience the deeper emotional and mental benefits that come with it.

Exploring the Five Koshas: A Journey Inward

A key focus of the retreat is the ancient yogic philosophy of the five koshas—five interconnected layers of being that shape our experiences of life, health, and spirituality. These layers include the physical body (Annamaya Kosha), the energy body (Pranamaya Kosha), the mental body (Manomaya Kosha), the intellectual body (Vijnanamaya Kosha), and the bliss body (Anandamaya Kosha). Throughout the retreat, guests explore these layers through mindful movement, meditation, and yoga, with each practice designed to bring them closer to a state of peace, clarity, and self-awareness.

Luxurious Spa Treatments to Complement Your Journey

Adding to the holistic experience, guests indulge in treatments at the resort’s luxurious AVI Spa, a sanctuary perched over the water and designed to promote deep relaxation and wellness. Named after the local word for “sunshine,” AVI Spa offers a variety of signature treatments and therapies that nurture the body and soul, perfectly complementing the retreat’s focus on mindfulness and rejuvenation.

An Idyllic Setting for Renewal and Rejuvenation

Furthermore, the stunning location of the resort enhances the retreat experience. As the first and only all-Club InterContinental resort, it provides exclusive benefits to guests, including indulgent amenities and luxurious accommodations.
