SriLankan Airlines Introduces Scheduled Flights From Colombo To Gan International Airport

SriLankan Airlines to Introduce Schedule Flights From Colombo To Gan International Airport.
SriLankan Airlines has launched scheduled flights from Colombo to Gan International Airports on the 1st of December.

Srilankan Airlines has launched scheduled flights from Colombo to Gan International Airports on the 1st of December.

The national flag carrier airlines to SriLanka will provide the service four days a week from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo to Gan International Airport in Addu City. Flight operations will be scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The airlines operate over 25 weekly flights from Colombo to Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Hulhule currently and expects that the new route to Gan would result in an increase of tourist arrivals. This is encouraged by the new business opportunities in the region. This new service is also expected to provide opportunities for travel to more destinations via SriLankan Airlines’ global route network of 102 destinations in 47 countries and 1000 destinations under the Oneworld Alliance.

Gan International Airport is located in Addu Atoll, the southernmost part of the archipelago. Addu City is the second most developed area in the Maldives. Divided into five districts by naturally formed islands connected, they are Hithadhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo. Gan International Airport recently went through a significant re-development which involved the expansion of their runway and facilities. This flight service would be the first scheduled international flight to the airport. Ticket prices start from USD 330 for a round trip.

There are two luxury island resorts and a number of guesthouses within Addu. There are also other resorts in the surrounding islands. This service opens up new possibilities for properties in that region to reach out more tourists and use the service to their advantage.

The inauguration of services of flights to Gan is a part of strategy by SriLankan Airlines to develop its network in South Asia; namely India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and in the Middle East, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saud Arabia, Qatar and Oman, as well as the Far East including Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.

SriLankan provides frequent connections through Colombo to its global network. This includes over 100 weekly flights to 11 cities in India and a wide range of destinations in the Far East and the Middle East.

SriLankan is known for its brisk service of variety such as comfortable seats, state of the art entertaining systems, enticing in-flight cuisine and flight attendants renowned for their excellent service of care.
