Qatar Airways has increased its flight operations since 24th March 2020, in order to provide more seats for passengers trying to return home. With countries closing its borders and airlines on a temporary halt due to the spread of COVID-19, people all over the world have been stuck overseas.
The safety, security and good health of our passengers and employees is our highest priority. Although we maintain the very highest standards of hygiene across all parts of the business, we recognise that some passengers may wish to alter their existing travel plans. We hope this new policy, alongside our robust hygiene practices and safety record, will allow our passengers to travel with confidence.”
Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways has increased services to several destinations and plans to operate additional flights with an increased Airbus A380 service. A few days after the airline announced plans to ground its entire Airbus A380 fleet, Qatar Airways resumed operations of A380. Doha airport remains open for transit allowing smooth operations.
A number of routes including London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Perth will be operated by the A380. The airline has been committed to help passengers get home, with 72 percent of passengers flown being nationals returning to their home country on 24th March 2020 alone.
Furthermore, Qatar Airways has also increased operations to Australia from 29th March 2020 onwards in order to help stranded passengers return home. Recognising the inconvenience for travellers, Qatar Airways altered their commercial policy in order to provide the customers with maximum flexibility in travelling amidst the global crisis.
Qatar Airways maintains the highest hygiene standards including regular disinfection of the aircraft with the use of cleaning products recommended by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and World Health Organization (WHO), and thermal screening of the crew.
