Introducing ‘Split Stay’ for Tourists Visiting the Maldives

Maldives has opened the opportunity to do a plit stay with improved guidelines
Split Stay has been introduced for tourists who wish to experience their holiday in more than one resort.

Split Stay has been introduced for tourists who wish to experience their holiday in more than one resort. Ministry of Tourism in constitution with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced split stays to encourage and allow tourists to experience more than one resort. Additionally, this would enable guests to have longer stays in the Maldives during their holidays.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Tourism, the decision was made at the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC). Resorts that meet all the compulsory requirements under the split stay guideline approved by HPA can have Split stays. Requests for approval of split stays should be submitted to the tourism ministry, two days prior to the traveling date.

Maldives Resorts have taken up extensive measures and raised cleanliness standards accordingly with the regulations imposed. Likewise, the government has taken various precautionary steps to ensure travel safety for holidaymakers coming to the Maldives.

The naturally self-isolated Maldives is renowned to have some of the best resorts in the world. Tourists should have a confirmed booking at a registered tourist facility prior to their arrival in the Maldives. Likewise, this is also required for processing guests’ visas. Guests traveling to the Maldives are provided a 30-day tourist visa (for all nationalities). Hence, guests will not be subject to quarantine measures on their arrival.

However, guests are required to submit any medical test results. Travelers presenting symptoms of COVID-19 will be subjected to a PCR test at the traveler’s cost as well. A health declaration card is also required as part of the procedure.

A total of 5,177 tourists visited the Maldives from 15 July 2020 to 15 August 2020. According to the Ministry of tourism, 13 resorts will reopen from September onward. In addition to that, 31 properties will open its doors from October onwards.
