National Airline of Seychelles, Air Seychelles has revealed to start flights from Johannesburg to the Maldives. The airline will operate flights between 4th December 2020 and 9th January 2021. So, that’s just-in-time for your festive getaway to the sunny side of life!
According to a Press Release by Air Seychelles, the flight is scheduled every Friday night from Johannesburg to the Maldives for 6 weeks. The aircraft will also make an intermediate stop briefly in Seychelles before continuing to Velana International Airport in Male’ (MLE). The returning flight set to be operated every Saturday. Thus, this will allow for a full-week holiday in the Maldives with a total flying time of fewer than 9 hours.
The flight scheduled every Friday night from Johannesburg for 6 weeks, will provide travelers the opportunity to plan their holidays in advance for the upcoming festive season now that both countries have reopened to welcome back international visitors.

The airline has announced travellers will need to provide proof of negative PCR test results. So, travellers much conduct this PCR test 72 hours prior to their flight. This is a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19.
Due to the recent events surrounding the global pandemic, Air Seychelles has extended its waiver policy. So, the airline now provides travellers with more flexibility if they choose to rebook and fly at a later time. Moreover, as part of the policy, travellers holding tickets issued any time until 31st December 2020, can benefit from unlimited date changes with no penalty fee.

It is also a mandatory requirement for travellers to complete the airlines’ health self-assessment form. You should complete this form 24 hours before departure. In addition to that, travellers must also wear a mask at all times throughout the flight.
