German airline, Condor Flugdienst GmbH (Condor Airlines) has resumed its flight operations to the Maldives on 20th December 2020.

German airline, Condor Flugdienst GmbH (Condor Airlines) has resumed its flight operations to the Maldives today, 20th December 2020. According to Velana International Airport, Condor Airlines will operate 2 weekly flights to the tropical holiday destination.

Holidaymakers can travel to the Maldives as long as they have a confirmed booking at a property. Currently, most of the guesthouses and resorts in the Maldives have reopened. So, travellers have different options to choose from for their festive getaway.

Several more airlines have announced their plans to restart flight operations to the Maldives. But, major airlines have already restarted flight operations to the Maldives.

Germany is one of the leading tourist source markets to the Maldives. Likewise, Germany has been a major contributor since the Maldives reopened its borders. By 16th December 2020, a total of 5,393 tourists arrived in the Maldives from Germany, since the Maldives reopened its borders.

As more airlines start operations to the Maldives, tourist arrivals to the Maldives have steadily grown. Hence, the country achieved its goal of welcoming 500,000 tourists by the end of 2020. 100,000 of these tourists arrived after the border reopening. Furthermore, the Maldives also secured the title of the World’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards 2020.

The Maldives estimates it will reach over 1.5 million tourist arrivals in 2021. Likewise, the Maldives forecasts tourists will spend more than 10 million bed nights in the Maldives in 2021.
