The flag carrier of Kazakhstan, Air Astana has started flight operations to the Maldives today, 5th September 2020. According to the Maldives Airports Company (MACL), the airline will operate 3 weekly flights to the holiday destination.
Air Astana will operate flights to the Maldives on Wednesday, and Saturday. Meanwhile, from 21st December 2020, the airline will start additional flights as well. Air Astana will use its Airbus 321LR aircraft for Maldives operations. But, Due to the high demand during seasonal holidays, from 16th December 2020 to 16 January 2021, the airline will operate flights using a wide-bodied Boeing 767 aircraft.
According to the Air Astana, fares start from US$677 in economy class and from US$2067 in business class.
326 tourists arrived in the Maldives from Kazakhstan last November. This is 24.4% higher than the tourists that arrived in the island nation from Kazakhstan in 2019.
Before the global COVID-19 pandemic, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan served 64 routes. The airline’s main hub is the Almaty International Airport. and its secondary hub is the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. Likewise, Air Astana runs both domestic and international operations.
