The German Embassy, in collaboration with the Maldivian government and Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) will be opening a temporary biometric visa application centre in Male’, Maldives.
This is the second time Schengen Visa Application Services are being provided in the Maldives and it aims to provide easier procedures for Maldivian citizens who wishes to travel to Germany as well as those taking part in the ITB Fair in March 2020. In order to make the visa procedure a hassle-free process, a mobile visa clinic will be open from 3rd February 2020 to 5th February 2020.
This Clinic will take the bio-metric enrollments and documents from all the applicants who have made prior appointments. A total of 162 appointments have so far been booked and due to increased demand, the clinic services have been extended until 6th February 2020.”

The clinic will carry on its services from 0900 hrs to 1800 hrs at the Foreign Ministry. All necessary services for biometric enrollments as well as filling documents from the applicants with prior appointments will be provided by the centre. Bookings for appointments will be open for the interested individuals till 1730 hrs of 25th January 2020.
Plans for the visa application centre was disclosed in December 2019 by Jörn Rohde, the German Ambassador to Srilanka and the Maldives along with the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
The Maldives has signed visa waiver agreements with Russia, UAE and Morroco during 2019. Currently, about 84 countries grant visa on arrival for Maldivian passport holders.
