Siyam World Recognized by Travelife – Sustainable Tourism Achievement

Siyam World has received the global recognition for its sustainable tourism effects by being awarded with the Travelife Gold Certification.

Travelife is a widely recognised non-profit flagship program. They support tourism destinations, businesses, and travellers in implementing innovative solutions. Through these solutions, travellers and businesses can contribute to the continuous development of sustainable tourism.

To achieve this, a resort must meet 163 sustainability criteria. Some of these criteria include minimizing waste and energy use, addressing social issues, supporting employee welfare and wildlife protection, and supporting local communities and small businesses. As the Maldives moves towards a more sustainable tourism model, this marks a great achievement by Siyam World.

Sun Siyam Resorts, which operates in both the Maldives and Sri Lanka aims to operate sustainably and responsibly in both countries. One way that the resort brand accomplishes this is through the Sun Siyam Cares Programme. Through this, the resorts prioritize sustainability through various initiatives. The resorts put a focus on reducing energy and water use, managing plastic usage, supporting community development, and investing in renewable energy.

Sun Siyam Resorts has been operating for over 20 years, managing five luxury private island properties in the Maldives as well as a boutique beach retreat on the East Coast of Sri Lanka. Each of the properties brings a unique touch to travellers.
