SO/ Maldives Welcomes You to the Ultimate Easter Escape

SO/ Maldives offers an unforgettable Easter escape with luxury dining, wellness, adventure, and stylish island celebrations.

Easter doesn’t have to mean the same old routine. This year, step into something bold, sun-soaked, and utterly unforgettable. At SO/ Maldives, the holiday transforms into a curated blend of luxury, creativity, and laid-back island glamour. Tucked away in the crystal-clear Emboodhoo Lagoon—just 15 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport—this fashion-forward retreat invites you to experience Easter like never before.

Here, celebrations don’t follow a script—they unfold with effortless style. Days begin with the ocean at your feet and end under a sky full of stars, somewhere between a sensory escape and a runway moment. The resort’s avant-garde energy sets the tone for a long weekend of indulgent flavors, deep relaxation, playful family moments, and bold adventure.

A Taste of Island Elegance: Dining That Dazzles

Food sparks the magic. The Easter lineup offers pure culinary theatre: elegant, experiential, and unforgettable. At The Citronelle Club, a Crustacean & Wine Pairing Dinner elevates island dining with ocean-fresh seafood and a sommelier’s touch—pairings that speak to both the bold and the refined. As the night deepens, the vibe shifts to Lazuli, where a Master Wine Menu and live DJ beats blend seamlessly beneath the Maldivian night sky.

From there, the rhythm of Easter continues to flow effortlessly from moment to moment. Signature cocktails await during Sunset Hour at Pavilion Bar, perfectly timed for golden skies and a salty breeze. That leads into a three-course beachfront dinner on Lazuli Beach, where every bite reminds you that you’re not just on vacation—you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. And when Easter Sunday arrives, so does the island’s most glamorous gathering: the Easter Extravaganza Beach BBQ, with live music by the Rishvan Imon Duo, gourmet eats, and feet-in-the-sand elegance.

Reset & Recharge: Wellness with Soul

But it’s not all about indulgence. At SO/ Maldives, Easter invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect—with yourself, with nature, and with stillness. The SO/ SPA Easter Wellness Camp offers the perfect sanctuary for exactly that. Here, wellness isn’t a trend—it’s a way of being. Chakra Balancing, Walking Meditation, and Sound Healing sessions unfold in tranquil overwater or beachfront treatment spaces, each one designed to restore what busy life tends to steal. Every detail feels personal, intentional, and grounded in peace.

This slower pace invites you to rediscover the beauty of presence. With personalized spa treatments and immersive healing experiences, guests emerge from their sessions not just relaxed, but renewed—body, mind, and soul.

Moments to Share: Family, Creativity & Connection

The same energy of renewal extends into every shared experience on the island. Families gather for the Easter Egg Hunt & Games at Lazuli Beach Club, where fun comes with ocean views and sandy toes. For those craving creativity, the resort’s artisan-led workshops provide a beautiful nod to local culture—Sip and Clay, Jewelry Making, and Palm Leaf Basket Weaving offer meaningful ways to connect with Maldivian heritage.

And for the youngest trendsetters, the Easter spirit feels like pure magic. At The Nest, kids enjoy a holiday wonderland filled with bunny hop games, egg-painting, storytime, and a charming puppet show—a lineup that turns every moment into a memory.

Chasing Wonder: Thrills, Views & Ocean Vibes

Of course, no island escape would be complete without adventure—and SO/ Maldives delivers it with flair. Whether you’re snorkeling among vibrant reefs, jet skiing across turquoise waters, or parasailing above the lagoon, the experiences here don’t just thrill—they wow. For something slower but just as spectacular, set sail on a sunset dolphin-watching cruise. Golden light, open ocean, and the playful dance of marine life—it’s like stepping into your own cinematic moment.

In the end, Easter at SO/ Maldives is more than a celebration. It offers a chance to rediscover what joy feels like when it’s effortless, stylish, and free. Whether you’re with family, friends, or flying solo, this holiday stays with you—long after the sun has set and the last toast has been made.

Marriott International Celebrates Second Wave of Graduates in Maldives Apprenticeship Program

Marriott International Celebrates Second Wave of Graduates in Maldives Apprenticeship Program

On April 19, 2025, Marriott International celebrated the success of 31 apprentices who graduated from the second batch of its Maldives Apprenticeship Program. The special ceremony took place at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa and featured key dignitaries, including Hon. Ibrahim Waheed, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts, along with other officials from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). Additionally, Mark Fletcher, Marriott’s Area Director of Human Resources for Singapore and the Maldives, also attended to acknowledge the graduates’ achievements.

Hon. Ibrahim Waheed highlighted the program’s role in empowering the youth of the Maldives, commenting, “Today, we celebrate 31 apprenticeship graduates. These are 31 futures redefined—each a testament to what happens when opportunity meets action. To our apprentices, you step forward as ambassadors of possibility. And to Marriott International, thank you for not just supporting this program, but for championing it—your commitment to mentorship and local capacity building is truly admirable.”

A Collaborative Effort in Hospitality Training

The Marriott Apprenticeship Program is a collaborative effort between Marriott International, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, and MIT. This 10-month program provides participants with a well-rounded education that includes theoretical lessons at MIT and hands-on experience at various Marriott resorts across the Maldives. Specifically, the apprentices received training in several key hospitality sectors, including front office operations, culinary arts, food and beverage service, and housekeeping.

By partnering with the Maldivian government, Marriott became the first international hospitality brand to support such an apprenticeship initiative in the country, reinforcing its dedication to developing local talent. In this way, the program supports Marriott’s broader mission to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the fast-growing Maldivian tourism industry.

Practical Experience Across Marriott’s Maldives Resorts

The apprentices completed their theoretical training at MIT before gaining practical experience at Marriott’s luxurious properties in the Maldives, such as The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands; The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort; JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa; W Maldives; Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa; Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa; and The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort.

True to the company’s guiding principle of “We Put People First,” Marriott focuses on helping young professionals grow and succeed. As a result of their hard work, all the graduates received Level-3 certification, officially recognized by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA). This certification acknowledges their successful completion of both the academic and practical components of the program, preparing them for careers in the hospitality industry.

Looking Ahead to a Bright Future

Mark Fletcher reflected on the program’s origins, noting, “When we launched this program in 2023, it was envisioned as a pilot, a leap of faith, grounded in belief. A belief in crafting talents of Maldivian youth, belief in the strength and collaboration, and belief in Marriott’s commitment to “take care” – not just our people but the communities where we serve. What began as an initiative is now a movement, and Marriott International is proud to be the first international hospitality brand to officially launch such apprenticeship program in the Maldives”

Ultimately, this graduation marks a key milestone in Marriott’s efforts to contribute to the long-term sustainability of the Maldives’ tourism industry by fostering a talented and skilled local workforce. Marriott looks forward to watching its graduates embark on successful careers and continue playing an essential role in the growth of the country’s hospitality sector.
