SriLankan Airlines offers passengers travel passage to London, Tokyo (Narita), Melbourne, Hong Kong and beyond. The special scheme will commence on 13th May 2020, allowing travellers who are eligible to travel under the respective country travel advisories.
Passengers wishing to travel to the specified destinations or beyond can purchase their tickets through SriLankan offices or through local travel agents. Most countries have started allowing stranded travellers to repatriate subject to stipulated validity of the respective travel documents and quarantine periods.
SriLankan Airlines will also operate special Cargo Flights to 17 destinations in support of Sri Lanka’s export industries during the ongoing global crisis. These include 03 weekly flights to Male’ Maldives, 02 weekly flights to Chennai, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Doha, Dubai, Melbourne, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, and one weekly flight to Mumbai, Karachi, Lahore, Dhaka, Frankfurt, and Tokyo.
The airline will operate both passenger and cargo flights to London, Tokyo, Melbourne and Hong Kong.
Passengers looking to board these flights must ensure that they are eligible to enter the respective countries depending on the restrictions imposed by regulatory authorities in each country. Furthermore, passengers are requested to check their border control or emigration authorities prior to purchasing any tickets.
The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic forced a number of countries to close its borders and impose travel restricts. Along with major airlines, Sri Lankan airlines has temporarily suspended scheduled passenger flights till 15th May 2020. In spite of that, the airline has been operating special repatriation flights as well as cargo flights during the recent weeks.
