Sun Siyam Iru Veli has appointed Shama Rashid as the new Assistant Public Relations & Communications Manager. With extensive experience in public relations, media engagement, and project management, Shama is well-equipped to take charge of enhancing the resort’s communications strategy. Specifically, her focus will be on storytelling, building media relations, and supporting impactful communication initiatives that will undoubtedly elevate the resort’s profile.
In her new role, Shama will closely collaborate with the PR team to strengthen the resort’s global presence. Not only will she forge strong relationships with local and international media, but she will also craft compelling narratives to increase visibility for Sun Siyam Iru Veli within the competitive hospitality sector.

Shama began her career as a PR and Media Officer with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. There, she honed her skills in strategic communication and stakeholder management. Afterward, she transitioned to the tourism sector, holding positions with Pulse Hotels & Resorts and Villa Group before joining Sun Siyam Iru Veli. Shama holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Communication and has a natural talent for crafting engaging stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.
As a Maldivian national, Shama has a strong connection to the country’s culture and heritage, which makes her an ideal fit for Sun Siyam Iru Veli’s mission to highlight the unique offerings of the Maldives.
