The Festive Spirit Begins at Sun Siyam Olhuveli

Sun Siyam Olhuveli Cake mixing ceremony

The holiday season has officially arrived, and Sun Siyam Olhuveli has kicked things off in style. On 15 November 2024, the resort invited guests to join in the excitement of the season’s arrival. The celebrations started with a vibrant Christmas Cake Mixing ceremony on the beautiful Watersports Beach. The stunning Maldivian sunset created the perfect backdrop, enhancing the festive spirit of the event.

Hassan Didi, Executive Chef at Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives, shared his thoughts on the ceremony:

“With the cake mixing ceremony, we set the tone for a season of joy, togetherness, and celebration. It’s a cherished tradition that brings our guests and team together, creating unforgettable memories as we head into the holiday season.”

Inspired by the classic European Rumtopf tradition, the ceremony truly celebrated the season. Guests eagerly mixed dried fruits, spices, and spirits to create the base for the delicious Christmas cakes and treats. Laughter and excitement filled the air as everyone blended the ingredients and exchanged stories. As the evening sky darkened, the resort’s culinary team and management leaders joined the festivities. They guided guests through the process and shared the tradition’s rich history, which deepened everyone’s connection to the experience. This added personal touch also fueled the excitement for the upcoming holiday season.

Following the cake mixing, the celebration continued with a lively Management Cocktail event. Guests relaxed and mingled, savoring a carefully selected range of drinks and canapés. They had the chance to connect with fellow holidaymakers and the resort’s management team. The evening became even more delightful with the distribution of exciting prizes and gift vouchers, adding a surprise element to the festivities.

Looking ahead, the holiday fun will continue with AstroFest 2024-2025, which runs from 21 December 2024 to 8 January 2025. This celestial-themed event promises an unforgettable experience. Guests can enjoy stargazing sessions on the beach and gala dinners inspired by the cosmos. Stellar performances and unique activities will offer a one-of-a-kind celebration, all set under the breathtaking Maldivian night sky.

Sun Siyam Olhuveli is thrilled to welcome guests to a holiday season filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. The festivities have just begun, and there is much more magic to come!

Maldives Investment Opportunities Highlighted in Malaysia Meeting

In a strategic move to enhance the Maldives’ economic landscape, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu recently held a series of high-level meetings with prominent Malaysian business leaders during his official visit to Malaysia. These discussions, aimed at fostering greater bilateral cooperation, focused on key areas such as tourism, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.

A key engagement was a meeting with Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, Founder and Chairman of the Sunway Group, one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates. During the talks, they explored potential collaborations in tourism, education, and healthcare, with Dr. Muizzu emphasizing the Maldives’ growing appeal as an investment destination. Furthermore, the Sunway delegation showed strong interest in the Maldives’ robust investment climate, particularly in areas supported by the recently enacted Foreign Investment Act.

Additionally, the President met with Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, the founder of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, where they discussed expanding Berjaya’s footprint in the Maldives, particularly in the tourism sector. Notably, the Maldives’ well-established tourism industry, along with its strategic location, stood out as a key area for future collaboration. Moreover, the talks covered developments in infrastructure, focusing on the nation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen air connectivity and create a more conducive environment for foreign investors.

These interactions, in turn, form part of the Maldives’ broader strategy to attract sustainable investments and open new avenues for economic growth. With a renewed focus on eco-tourism, renewable energy, and digital transformation, the President’s meetings signal the nation’s readiness to welcome global partners.

As President Dr. Muizzu wrapped up his engagements, both the Maldivian and Malaysian business leaders expressed optimism about future collaborations, thus highlighting the Maldives’ potential as a thriving hub for investment in the Indian Ocean region.
