Ministry of Tourism revealed that 747 tourist facilities and 48,794 beds are currently operational in the Maldives.

747 tourist facilities are operational in the Maldives as of 1st August 2021. According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, 155 resorts (and marinas), 442 guesthouses, 140 safari vessels and 10 hotels are currently operational in the Maldives.

While 747 tourist facilities are operational in the Maldives, the current operational bed capacity of the country is 48,794 beds (out of 54,284). The majority of resorts and guesthouses are currently open in the Maldives. However, some properties are closed due to ongoing renovations.

As of 1st August 2021, Maldives has recorded 617,791 tourist arrivals. Arrivals have significantly increased in July 2021 after the island nation resumed issuing visas for South Asian travellers.

From 1st January 2021 to 1st August 2021, tourists spent an average of 9 days in the Maldives. Russia is currently the Maldives’ leading source market with a market share of 23.2%.
