The resort project is a joint venture partnership between Sri Lankan based Sanken construction and Orca Holding. Additionally, Hyatt Hotels will manage the resort under the Alila Brand.
In 2009, Alila Hotels opened Alila Maldives Hadahaa. Later in 2011, Park Hyatt took over the management of the property (now the resort is known as Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa).
Hyatt acquired Two Roads hospitality which managed Alila Hotels in 2018. So as it turns out, Hyatt is the one bringing Alila to the Maldives once again.
Located in Raa Atoll, the upcoming resort is reachable by a 45-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport. Alila Villas Maldives will feature 80 beachfront and overwater villas with either sunrise or sunset views. According to Orca Holding, the resort is designed by Singapore-based Studiogoto.
Hyatt has already started listing jobs for the new resort. So we’re expecting to see Alila Villas Maldives to open its doors in late-2021 or early-2022.
