Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities of Egypt has temporarily reduced the cost of tourist visas in June, July and August. It has also halved entry fess to all archaeological sites and museums.

Such decisions was taken as an incentive to attract visitors back to the country in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. As stated the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities has reduced the entrance visa from USD 25 to USD 15. It has also waived rents for bazaars and cafes and halving entrance fees for visitors.

There will be a gradual resumption of some activities from mid-June, and it will also consider the return of in-house dining at restaurants with strict safety measures later in June”

The Hospitality industry in Egypt is expecting an in increase of tourist arrival, yet forecast shows 25% occupancy for the month has they re-opened on 18th May 2020, to see and increase up-to 50% from 1st June 2020.

Egypt has put in place new hygiene standard regulations for hotels and they must follow the health guidelines laid out by the Egyptian government and the World Health Organisation. They have to undergo mandatory sterilization before re-opening, and incoming guests will undergo temperature tests for COVID-19. The number of occupants in each hotel room has been capped at two adults and one child.

Strict measure are put in place by the hotels to adhere to the regulations and for the safety of their guest. Such measures include Minimum of 02 Adults and 01 Child in one room. Masks , Gloves and Protective Equipment for staffs and guests , contactless check in and most importantly each hotel must have a residential health specialist to respond to emergencies. With these measures in place , the hotels must pass an audit to ensure they are meeting the new hygiene standards.
