Sorenson showcases integrity and vulnerability by making an appearance in the video.

Marriott has lived by the core value established by the founder of the hotel chain, JW Marriott, “take care of our guests and associates’’ for over 90 years now.

Today, Arne Sorenson has proven what Marriott stands for while demonstrating the attributes of a true leader by being vulnerable, sincere and hopeful in his heartfelt message to the Marriott employees, stakeholders and customers.

Because of the profound impact COVID-19 is having on so many of us around the world, this is the most difficult video message we have ever pulled together. Our team was a bit concerned about using a video today because of my new bald look. Let me just say that my new look is exactly what was expected as a result of my medical treatments. I feel good and my team and I are 100% focused on overcoming the common crisis we face. Now let’s talk about that crisis”

Arne Sorenson said in the video message.

Sorenson addressed the issue upfront, stating all the facts while assuring with positivity that the Marriott Hotels will be working towards overcoming the global crisis.

Both Mr. Marriot and I will not be taking any salary for the balance of 2020, and my executive team will be taking a 50% cut in pay.”

Arne Sorenson

Adhering to the company’s norms and priorities, Marriot Hotels has laid out certain instructions for the beloved clientele with regards to future bookings, clearly stating what to keep in mind when booking a stay, before booking, and during the stay.

Whenever you travel, we are waiting with open doors and open hearts to serve you.”

Arne Sorenson said in a statement for Marriott Associates

While the situation is uncertain, Arne Sorenson reassures with optimism and hope that the company will do everything they can to ensure the safety and well-being of the Marriott associates during these tough times.
