Reports suggest the Maldives could be added to the United Kingdom's amber list with the next traffic light system review.

The Maldives could come off the United Kingdom’s red list in August 2021. According to The Daily Express, there have been reports that the island nation could move to the ‘amber list’ before September 2021.

UK’s Daily Express reported that as COVID cases in the Maldives is nowhere near as high in May, the island nation’s status as a red list country could end at the next review. Furthermore, Reports from the web suggests that the result of the next traffic light system review is expected on either 4th August or 5th August.

The Maldives has a good chance of reverting to amber in August. So keep the hope alive. Be warned that if your flights are via Dubai or Doha, you will be required to go into hotel quarantine on arrival in the UK because they are red-listed.

The Independent’s travel expert Simon Calder told The Daily Express.

While the final decision is still unclear, but in the case that the Maldives is moved to the amber list, fully vaccinated travellers can visit the tropical holiday destination without needing to quarantine once they return to England.
