Maldives Records Over 2900 Tourist Arrivals in a Single Day

The Maldives has recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals on a single day since border reopening with over 2900 arrivals.

Tropical island destination, Maldives has recorded over 2900 tourist arrivals in a single day. This is the highest number of tourist arrivals the Maldives has Recorded in a single day since the country reopened its borders.

According to a tweet by the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, the island archipelago made a new record of daily tourist arrivals on 5th December 2020. Likewise, Minister Mausoom congratulated stakeholders in the tourism industry in his tweet.

Statistics from the Maldives Immigration reveals that the Maldives welcomed approximately 35,759 tourists in November 2020. Furthermore, this figure is an increase of 66% compared to the previous month.

In last month (November 2020), Maldives witnessed an average of 1,192 tourist arrivals daily. And the highest number of tourist arrivals on a single-day during the month was 2,299.

As for the the leading tourist source markets, Russia, India & the United States led the numbers. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom came close to the US in 4th place. Russia maintaines its position as the leading tourist source market since the Maldives reopened its borders. Meanwhile, tourist arrivals from India grew by a staggering 445%.

In addition to the steadily growing numbers, several influential celebrities have chosen the island destination as their holiday getaway. The Maldives has also claimed the title of ‘World’s Leading Destination 2020’ at the 27th World Travel Awards as well. Likewise, resorts in the island archipelago also won globally renowned awards.
