Maldives Scores Numerous Titles at World Travel Awards 2020

The Maldives has scored numerous titles at World Travel Awards 2020. The winners of World travel awards Indian Ocean category was announced on 10th November 2020. Thus, revealing a huge success for the island nation. The World Travel Awards also honoured the best resorts in the Maldives as well.

Most notably, the Maldives has won; Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, and Indian Ocean’s Leading cruise destination this year. The Maldives is on a winning streak, grabbing the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination title without a drop since 2013. Meanwhile, island archipelago has claimed Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination award for the past 5 consecutive years as well.

With this year’s win, the Maldives secures the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination award for the 13th time. In 2019’s edition of World Travel Awards, the island archipelago won; Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, and World’s Leading Beach Destination.

This year, the World Travel Awards had an extended voting period to enable all organizations nominated in the 2020 program (especially those just re-emerging from lockdown) a longer timeframe to generate votes.

Nisham holds an MBA in Accounting & Finance from the University of Suffolk and has built a remarkable career in financial leadership within the luxury hospitality industry in the Maldives. His experience includes expertise in financial planning, cost control, and regulatory compliance. Prior to this role, Nisham served as the Financial Controller at Oaga Art Resort, where he played a key role in enhancing the resort’s financial structure. Additionally, his previous positions at Amilla Maldives and Anantara Kihavah Villas further highlight his skill in managing finances at high-profile luxury properties.

Sharing his thoughts on his new role, Nisham remarks:
