The Maldives has scored numerous titles at World Travel Awards 2020 after a fierce competition with Mauritius and Seychelles.

The Maldives has scored numerous titles at World Travel Awards 2020. The winners of World travel awards Indian Ocean category was announced on 10th November 2020. Thus, revealing a huge success for the island nation. The World Travel Awards also honoured the best resorts in the Maldives as well.

Most notably, the Maldives has won; Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, and Indian Ocean’s Leading cruise destination this year. The Maldives is on a winning streak, grabbing the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination title without a drop since 2013. Meanwhile, island archipelago has claimed Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination award for the past 5 consecutive years as well.

In 2019’s edition of World Travel Awards, the island archipelago won; Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, and World’s Leading Beach Destination.

World Travel Awardsâ„¢ is globally regarded as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. This year, the World Travel Awards had an extended voting period to enable all organizations nominated in the 2020 program (especially those just re-emerging from lockdown) a longer timeframe to generate votes.

The Manta Trust is a globally recognized organization registered in England and Wales. In addition to being dedicated to research, and protection, the organization also works on the conservation of manta rays and their habitats worldwide. Through research, education, and advocacy, the Manta Trust strives to ensure the long-term survival of these majestic creatures. Additionally, the Manta Trust also works on protecting the ecosystems and the habitat.

Guests visiting Sun Siyam Iru Fushi now have the opportunity to safely interact with manta rays if they are spotted during any resort excursion activities. This allows guests to create unforgettable memories while also respecting the natural habitat of the mantas. In addition, guests can contribute to citizen science by submitting their photographs to the Manta Trust. This helps researchers with the identification and tracking of individual mantas. Additionally, this also provides valuable data on population dynamics and habitat preferences in the Maldives. To further enhance the experience, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi team members, who have received specialized training, are available to answer questions and provide insights into the captivating world of manta rays.
