Trans Maldivian Airways revealed the seaplane operator carried the majority of tourists to their holiday destinations since border reopening.

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) revealed the seaplane operator carried the majority of tourists to their holiday destinations since border reopening. As per the statistics from Maldives Immigration, more than 5000 tourists arrived in the Maldives from 15th July 2020 to 15th August 2020.

TMA is considered the backbone of tourism infrastructure in the country. The world’s largest seaplane operator plays a pivotal role in enhancing and facilitating the growth of the tourism industry in the Maldives. The seaplane operator has assured that it will continue to support the tourism industry with transfers of the tourist.

Trans Maldivian Airways is proud to have transferred majority of these tourists during this period from Velana International Airport to their dream resort and vice versa. TMA offers enhanced safety and hygiene to all its guests under the new norm.

What Safety Measures is TMA undertaking?

  • All passengers are provided with a complimentary Travel Hygiene Kit. The kit consists of face mask, gloves, and hand sanitizer at the time of their check-in.
  • Face Masks are mandatory for all passengers during their journey.
  • Multiple hand sanitizers placed for the convenience and better hygiene of passengers.
  • All touchpoints through the journey regularly disinfected in accordance with Global Heath recommendations and policy guidelines.

Wherever possible, the airline has put forth guidelines to minimize direct contact between passengers and staff. Furthermore, TMA’s overall objective is to keep it simple and safe for passengers throughout their journey with speedy service and minimum inconvenience to guests. Find out further information HERE.

Trans Maldivian Airways started in 1989 as a company operating a helicopter fleet under the name Hummingbird Island Helicopters. Hummingbird Island Helicopters later changed the name to Hummingbird Island Airways. Following the first seaplane being added to the fleet in 1997, the transition to a seaplane-only fleet was completed in 1999. A year later the name Trans Maldivian Airways came to be. Today, TMA represents as a synonym for connecting the Maldives islands.
