Reethi Faru Resort Wins Title of Luxury Eco/Green Hotel in the Indian Ocean at World Luxury Awards 2021
2021 is the fourth consecutive year that the Reethi Faru Resort is being bestowed with a prestigious award from the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Reethi Faru Resort has been declared the Indian Ocean Continental Winner in the ‘Luxury Eco/Green Hotel’ category of the 2021 World Luxury Hotel Awards. 

The World Luxury Hotel Awards is a globally recognised organisation that celebrates luxury hotels and resorts for their world-class facilities and service excellence provided to their patrons.

2021 is the fourth consecutive year that the resort is being bestowed with a prestigious award from the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Reethi Faru Resort has been declared the Indian Ocean Continental Winner in the 'Luxury Eco/Green Hotel' category of the 2021 World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Reethi Faru Resort is a bio-luxury natural island on the pristine and secluded island of Filaidhoo, Raa Atoll. It is renowned for its sustainable efforts taken during its core foundation and every day since. As one of the first few resorts to have a biogas digester, it has reduced its carbon emission footprint by converting all food waste into biogas used within the staff kitchen, thereby creating 0 food wastage on the island.

Gearing up to celebrate its fourth anniversary since opening its doors to the world, the resort actively encourages energy conservation which is one of the cornerstones of its efforts. With over 4,000 photovoltaic panels installed on the roofs of their staff accommodation, the resorts’ current solar plant can produce around 1 megawatt of energy, one of the largest in the Maldives.

Maldives Takes Home Wins at World Travel Awards 2024!

Maldives is yet again taking home coveted awards at the World Travel Awards (Indian Coean Category), at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024. The award show which is being held at Dubai World Trade Center from 6th to 9th May recognises and rewards excellence in travel and tourism. It is no shock that the Maldives took home more than one award, as the destination has always been a tourist-hot spot.

The Maldives took home the following awards this year:

  • Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination 2024
  • Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024
  • Indian Ocean’s Leading Green Destination 2024
  • Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination 2024

The resorts that won these awards for the Maldives are also noteworthy. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island claimed the coveted title of ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel’. Vakkaru Maldives won ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort’. Coco Bodu Hithi, Maldives was named ‘Indian Ocean’s Most Romantic Resort’. Cora Cora Maldives also enjoyed a strong showing, winning ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort’.

The Maldives also won some of these categories at the 2023 World Travel Awards. Last year the Maldives won the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination 2023 title. Additionally, the country also won the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination 2023 and the Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination 2023. Two of these titles have been won by the Maldives since 2020. This year, however, the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination was won by the beautiful Seychelles. In addition to the Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Reunion Island competed for this title.
