Flight Cancellations and Rerouting Amid Rising Tensions

There have been some major changes to airlines, as the tensions in the Middle East caused disruptions in the daily plans. With this, major airlines have cancelled some of the flights, while others have delayed the schedule. According to Arab News, an Aeroflot flight from Moscow to Tehran which took off on Saturday evening will land in Makhachkala in Russia’s Dagestan region. Additionally, airlines will postpone a number of flights to Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Some of the other additional carriers to postpone their flights include the Russian flagship carrier, The Switzerland flagship carrier Swiss International Airlines, United Airlines, as well as Israel El Al Airlines. Some of the flights delayed until at least late Sunday by the Russian flagship carrier include:

  • Flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg to the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada in Egypt
  • Flights from Moscow to Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt
  • Russian flagship carrier flights from Moscow to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE.

In addition to this, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Swiss International Airline is suspending Tel Aviv Services. Travellers on United Airlines also expected some disruption. Flights scheduled from Newark to Tel Aviv were cancelled this Saturday due to airspace restrictions. Moreover, Israel El Al Airlines has cancelled 15 flights scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Some of the other additional destinations that travel was impacted include Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Milan, Bucharest, Sofia, Athens, Dubai and Moscow.
