Greece will be allowing travelers from 20 to 25 different countries including Germany, Cyprus and Israel to visit from mid-June without having to be quarantined on arrival. This comes in a phase where the government is on a gradual easing of corona-virus lock-down restrictions.

The Government of Greece has plans to restore international flights by 1st July 2020 with restriction on entry to the country from passengers from high infection rate countries until 15th July 2020. The Government and health experts are discussing on whether travelers will be tested for COVID-19 before visiting Greece or if it shall be covered under the insurance.

Germans will be allowed to visit Greece from June 15. International flights to the northern city of Thessaloniki would resume on June 15, sooner than an initial planned date of July 1.”

Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Greece currently allows travelers from EU countries except for Italy, Spain and Netherlands to visit, subject to a 14-day confinement. Visitors from Britain and other non-EU countries are currently barred from entering into Greece.

Tourism accounts for about 20% of the Greek economy and the government sees the sector as a major engine of its recovery from a lockdown that has brought business to a virtual standstill.
