Celebrating biodiversity this year, Crown and Champa Resorts disclosed some of the measures in place at their hotels and resorts on 05th June, World Environment Day 2020. The theme for this year focus on providing essential infrastructure that supports life on Earth and human development.

This year has been a major learning lesson as we witnessed the human impact on the environment at a large scale. A number of resorts and hotels worldwide has focused on sustainable tourism throughout the years and has implemented further protocols given the changes seen due to the global pandemic. On the World Environment Day this year, Crown and Champa Resorts revealed some of the ways in which they are protecting biodiversity with Eco-friendly initiatives.

Plastic causes severe damage to the marine life. It is important to limit the consumption of unnecessary waste as it has affected the planet in irrecoverable ways. Across Crown and Champa Resorts’ properties, single use plastic has been eliminated and replaced with eco-friendly alternatives.

Crown and Champa Resorts has taken plenty of initiatives to plant more trees and recently embarked on a coconut tree planting exercise at Veligandu Island Resort. Coconut tree planting helps control coastal soil erosion.

The hospitality group has also been doing its part to preserve the reefs and marine life with initiatives like coral and reef gardening on Kuredu Island Resort and Meeru Island Resort. This is done by transplanting coral to areas that need support.
