Sheikh Hasina Raises Interest in Starting Cruise Services Between Bangladesh and Maldives

Prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina has said sea cruise services between the Maldives and Bangladesh can be arranged.

The prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina has said that sea cruise services between the Maldives and Bangladesh during the winter can be arranged. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh made this statement, meeting with the newly-appointed high commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh — Shiruzimath Sameer.

According to Bangladesh media, Sheikh Hasina highlighted the need for an exchange of experience between the Maldives and Bangladesh. Furthermore, the prime minister of Bangladesh urged Bangladesh nationals residing in the Maldives to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Earlier this month, the foreign minister of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid met his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, H.E. Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, MP.

According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the visit Minister Shahid held bilateral talks with Minister Momen. Likewise, he signed two new memorandums of understanding between Maldives and Bangladesh.

In addition to that, Minister Shahid also paid courtesy calls on the Honourable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Md. Abdul Hamid, and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. In his call with Md. Abdul Hamid, Foreign Minister conveyed greetings and well wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to the President.

Minister Shahid reiterated the commitment of the Maldivian Government to work closely with the Government of Bangladesh to further consolidate the strong bonds of friendship that has long existed between the two countries. Likewise, On minister Shahid’s visit to Bangladesh, he was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Abdul Ghafoor, Foreign Secretary and Ms. Fathimath Ghina, Joint Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These will be announced at a later date and will also be managed by Dusit. Meticulous attention will be paid to ensure all resort elements seamlessly blend with the surrounding environment.
