Tourism Minister of the Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom visited the Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo Tourism Zone yesterday, 17th March 2021. Minister oversaw the progress of these tourism zones.
The Tourism Minister was accompanied by a delegation of the Tourism Ministry, Parliament Member for Hithadhoo South Constituency, Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodiq, and Councillors of Addu City. According to a tweet by the Tourism Ministry, during his visit, Minister planted a sapling in both of the tourism zones.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that the World Tourism Day celebrations will be held in Addu City this year. While celebrations for World Tourism Day did not proceed in 2020 due to the pandemic, the government aims to hold a grand celebration for the day this year, 2021.

Making a stop at Fuvahmulah, the also Minister said that Fuvahmulah has great potential for international and domestic tourism as well. Minister Mausoom highlighted that he hopes to visit Fuvahmulah soon.

Earlier this week, Tourism Minister Mausoom attended a signing ceremony to develop a 100-room hotel at Kelaa with FEDO Private Limited as well. Moreover, the minister conducts regular meetings with stakeholders in the Maldives’ tourism industry. In a tweet, the minister expressed his delight to see young Maldivians taking up the reign of Tourism Development in the Maldives.
