Air Seychelles will bring back its flights connecting Johannesburg and Maldives due to popular demand. This weekly service will run from June 2021 to October 2021 and then from December 2021 to January 2022.

An Air Seychelles spokesperson revealed to a South African publication that these flights will take nine hours in total from Johannesburg to the Maldives. Likewise, the flight wouldn’t require passengers to leave the cabin or the aircraft. Hence, this is the fastest way to reach the tropical holiday destination.

Air Seychelles operated direct flights to the Maldives between 4th December 2020 and 9th January 2021 as well.

Air Seychelles is the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles. The airline was established in 1978 and began long-haul service in 1983. Furthermore, as the main driver of tourism in Seychelles, the airline is a core pillar of the national economy.

Currently, Air Seychelles offers international flights to Johannesburg, Mauritius, Mumbai and Tel Aviv in addition to charter services on demand. On its domestic network, the airline operates daily domestic flights between Mahe and Praslin as well as charter services throughout Seychelles.

According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, 29 airlines from all over the world are currently operating flights to the Maldives. Spain’s Iberia is also set to start flights to the Maldives in July 2021.

The Maldives is open to travellers from all around the globe with no restrictions. To visit the island nation, travellers only need a negative PCR test and they can holiday! Those who got their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine 14 days before arrival in the Maldives can enter the country without a PCR test.

The Maldives aims to welcome 1.5 million tourists in 2021. As of 27th April 2021, the island archipelago recorded 381,419 tourist arrivals.
