Amanda Batlle Morera has joined the Kuramathi Maldives Eco Centre as the Resident Marine Biologist once again.

Amanda Batlle Morera has joined the Kuramathi Maldives Eco Centre as the Resident Marine Biologist once again. She has been in the Maldives from 2011 to 2018 as Base Leader/Dive Instructor at Kuramathi Dive School. Amanda also served as a Marine Biologist/Dive Instructor at the resort’s sister island.

According to Kuramathi Maldives, Amanda is a qualified Biologist who holds two Masters’ Degrees in Remote Sensing & GIS, and in Marine and Coastal Systems Sustainable Management. Additionally, during her tenure in the Maldives, she designed and established a Crown of Thorns starfish outbreak control program at Maafushivaru.

During the course of the program, Amanda removed more than 3000 of these sea creatures which are a real threat to the coral reef health. Likewise, she’s also one of the first marine biologists to take action against this outbreak.

With her fascination for the sea, it has also led her to become an award-winning videographer. Likewise, Amanda is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian with knowledge in German as well.
