Noku Maldives Partners with Atoll Marine Conservation Centre to Mark World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day: Noku Maldives teams up with Atoll Marine Centre to protect sea turtles and promote conservation.

To celebrate World Oceans Day, Noku Maldives, a Vignette Collection resort, has launched a meaningful collaboration with the Atoll Marine Conservation Centre, a leading Maldivian organisation dedicated to sea turtle rescue, coral restoration, and marine education.

Hands-On Activities for Guests and Staff

As part of this partnership, the resort will host a lineup of guest-focused conservation activities designed to raise awareness about marine life and promote sustainable tourism. Guests can take part in interactive learning sessions led by marine experts from the Atoll Marine Conservation Centre. These sessions explore sea turtle biology, highlight current threats to these creatures, and explain the procedures used in rescue operations.

In addition, Noku Maldives staff will participate in a hands-on rescue and response simulation, gaining practical skills to support injured or stranded marine animals around the resort’s lagoon. This way, the team strengthens its capacity to care for local wildlife whenever needed.

Hussain Shahid, General Manager at Noku Maldives, said the partnership reflects a deeper commitment to marine care and awareness:

“Collaborating with Atoll Marine Conservation Centre allows us to deepen our understanding and care for the marine life that surrounds us. World Oceans Day presents an opportunity not just to celebrate the beauty of the ocean, but to act meaningfully in its protection.”

A Natural Fit for a Marine-Rich Lagoon

The partnership is especially relevant for Noku Maldives, as its house lagoon hosts a resident population of sea turtles. Their regular presence has become a cherished highlight for many guests. Because of that, the resort’s commitment to preserving the Maldives’ marine biodiversity feels even more personal. On top of that, working with a respected conservation group helps the team share real impact with its guests.

Get to Know the Atoll Marine Conservation Centre

Founded in 2012, the Atoll Marine Conservation Centre has led regional efforts to rescue and rehabilitate Olive Ridley turtles, often injured by ghost nets drifting into Maldivian waters. Alongside this, the organisation also plays a key role in coral propagation, community education, and protecting fragile marine ecosystems near the island of Naifaru.

Naturally, this collaboration fits within Noku Maldives’ broader sustainability vision, guided by its ethos of conscious luxury and responsible hospitality. By working together to celebrate World Oceans Day, both the resort and Atoll Marine Conservation Centre aim to inspire positive change. So, while guests enjoy their stay, they’re also invited to connect more deeply with the incredible ocean life that makes the Maldives so special.
