Kuredu Resort Maldives has joined the Clean Up the World Initiative 2020. The resort’s team joined forces with Prodivers and cleaned up the beaches, house reef, and extensive areas of vegetation around the island.
The Clean Up the World initiative takes place annually during the third weekend of September. Furthermore, the initiative was established in 1993 and is one of the largest community-based environmental programs in the world with more than 130 countries taking part. Clean Up the World’s shared vision is to inspire the citizens of planet Earth to tread lightly, clean up, and conserve the planet with a global effort to combat waste and plastic pollution.
Kuredu’s event was a little different this year, the global pandemic meant that our beloved guests have not yet arrived but we cleaned anyway! Sustainability is one of our resort’s values and our island and our planet still needed us.

According to Kuredu, the 60 team members collected 60 bags with around 150 kg of rubbish. The trash consisted mainly of plastic bottles, fishing lines, and small bits and pieces. Debris drifts around the oceans with the currents. However, it’s thanks to the continuing dedication of the resort’s team that guests can enjoy a picture-postcard holiday experience every time they visit.
