MAHRP Opens Registration For Maldives First Virtual Learning and Development Conference

Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) has opened registration for the first ever virtual learning and development conference in Maldives.

Set to take place on July 11 and July 12, the virtual learning and development conference will be themed as, “Creating a Value-Driven Learning Culture”. the conference will feature speakers from the Maldives, India, Trinidad and Tobago and Singapore.

MAHRP hosted the first ever learning and development conference in Maldives last year. It focused on finding smart, creative strategies and techniques to meet the current demand and needs of learning and development, to address today’s challenges and to handle the future workforce.

This was supposed to be the second MAHRP L&D Conference, but due to the current situation we have decided to make it a 100 percent virtual event, where expert speakers will deliver keynotes, case studies and panel discussions specifically focusing on HR Leadership and Challenges in creating a learning culture. This will be an event free of charge and a golden opportunity for all L&D professionals and industry members.

Since the coronavirus lockdown, MAHRP has conducted eight virtual learning experiences covering topics ranging from HR challenges in force majeure, emotional intelligence, workplace wellness and mental wellbeing, post-pandemic HR leadership requirements, and techniques to follow and engage teams when working from home.

The association’s mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most current and comprehensive resources, and to advance the profession by promoting HR’s essential values, setting professional standards and providing the know-how. It is committed to linking and connecting HR professionals and practitioners locally and oversees through signature events and membership activities.

MAHRP recently collaborated with Southern Community Empowerment Association of Maldives (SCEAM) to host a leadership and growth summit in the southernmost Addu city in November.

MAHRP’s second National HR Convention and EXPO 2020 has also been delayed to November.

Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives introduces Steven D’Souza as Director of Food & Beverages, and Tammy Gan as Assistant Director of Branding & Marketing.

Steven D’Souza – Director of Food & Beverages

Originally from India, Steve brings over 18 years of experience within the hospitality Industry. Having achieved a Bachelor of Hotel Management degree, Steve has accumulated invaluable pre-opening resort experiences. Steve has worked across three continents and served as the Food and Beverage division Head at Cap Jaluca, A Belmond Hotel in Anguilla.

When it comes to the Maldives, Steve has worked at The Nautilus Maldives, Niyama Private Island Maldives, and Anantara Kihavah Maldives. Additionally, Steven has also worked in Anantara in Thailand, Raffles Hotels Canouan Island, Buccament Bay Spa and Resort in St. Vincent & Grenadines, and Sheraton Jumeirah in Dubai.

At Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll, Steve will be reporting directly to the General Manager. He has been tasked with spearheading the F&B operations, prioritizing revenue growth, waste minimization, and regulatory compliance, as well as enhancing guest satisfaction through elevated service standards.

Tammy Gan – Assistant Director of Branding & marketing

Tammy, who is originally from Singapore joins Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll with over 14 years of Marketing and Branding experience in the hospitality sector. Throughout her career, Tammy has worked in countries across Southeast Asia to the Middle East as well as the Maldives. Prior to this, Tammy held the position of Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications at The Nautilus Maldives. Additionally, she held roles in esteemed properties like Gili Lankanfushi Maldives, Laguna Banyan Tree Limited in Phuket, Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spa in UAE, and Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.

In her new role, Tammy will report to the Director of Sales & Marketing. Here, she will oversee the strategic development and execution of marketing and communications plans for Finolhu and . HERE brands. Additionally, her role also encompasses brand enhancement, market analysis, advertising initiatives, resource allocation optimisation, as well as nurturing innovative branding and communication strategies through collaboration with external agencies.
