The Maldives’ Tourism Ministry announced that it started a special inspection program to audit the compliance of hotels and guesthouses. According to a tweet, the ministry is auditing the compliance to COVID-19 protocols set by the Health Protection Agency and the Ministry.
Since the initiative started, the tourism ministry suspended the operating licence for 04 guest houses. Furthermore, the Maldives’ Tourism Minister revealed that public safety and safeguarding the tourism industry comes first.
The island nation has implemented rigorous COVID-19 measures at all places possible. Likewise, a substantial amount of workers in the tourism industry have fully been vaccinated.
Guesthouses in the Maldives will resume accepting bookings from South Asian tourists towards the end of this month. Earlier, the spokesperson at the President’s Office revealed that the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) aims to have 95% of all guesthouse workers fully vaccinated.
