Visit Maldives begins media events to boost destination visibility in Switzerland and Austria. The B2B activity in Switzerland is being held on 13th September 2021 at Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel, Zurich. The activity in Austria will be held on 15th September 2021 at The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna.

These media events by Visit Maldives provide the opportunity to promote the destination as a safe haven for travelers from the Swiss and Austrian markets, by relaying the latest information of the destination to travel trade professionals active in these markets. During these events information on the latest travel guidelines and safety measures, product information on (resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards), and information on the services and experiences unique to the Maldives will be provided to the attendees.

The events are held in line with Visit Maldives’ strategies for the Swiss and Austrian markets and are based on utilizing ambient brand advertising to strengthen destination branding and focused advertising and promotion of products and experiences.

Visit Maldives has been holding and participating in several activities to strengthen brand presence in Switzerland and Austria, as part of the effort to increase future booking and arrival numbers. By the end of July 2021, Maldives received 11, 375 tourists from Switzerland ranking it 14th top market while 7,003 tourists were welcomed from Austria, ranking it 19th top source market to the Maldives.

Visit Maldives is carrying out campaigns with Connoisseur Circle, Bentley Magazine, Let’s Go Tour, and Imagine Magazine in order to further promote the destination as a safe haven for tourists from these markets. Future activities planned for the year for these markets includes fam trips, print advertisements, social and digital media campaigns, and joint campaigns with stakeholders.

To celebrate the milestone, the Dirnegger family received a special six-day stay at the luxurious SAii Lagoon Maldives. The family will enjoy the resort’s beauty and world-class amenities during their stay.

A Strong Year for Tourism

The Maldives set a goal to welcome 2 million tourists in 2024, and the country has now surpassed this target. The achievement also highlights the country’s growing popularity among international travelers. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives has seen a nine percent increase in tourist arrivals compared to the previous year. This steady growth further solidifies the country’s position as a leading destination for luxury, relaxation, and adventure.

Tourism officials have worked hard to attract visitors from around the world, and the Maldives continues to draw travelers with its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and exclusive resorts. The country also emphasizes sustainable tourism, which helps protect its natural beauty for future generations.

Looking ahead, the Maldives has set its sights on 2.2 million tourist arrivals for 2025.
