Indian full-service airline, Vistara started flight operations between the Maldives and Mumbai today, 3rd March 2021. The airline will operate 3 flights between Mumbai and Velana International airport every week.
According to Vistara, the airline is flying to the Maldives under India’s travel bubble agreement with the Maldives. Furthermore, Vistara deployed its Airbus A320neo aircraft with a three-class cabin configuration on the routes. Hence, this is the only airline to offer travellers the choice of Premium Economy in addition to Business and Economy cabins, on flights between India and the Maldives.

Vistara’s operations to the Maldives will further strengthen the connectivity between the tropical holiday destination and India. India is currently the leading individual tourist source market to the Maldives. Likewise, in 2020, Maldives recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals from India.
According to the figures from the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, the island nation recorded 44,981 tourist arrivals from India by 1st March 2021. And in 2020, Maldives witnessed 62,960 tourist arrivals from India. India was also the fastest-growing tourist market of 2019.
