The Ritz-Carlton has appointed Nishantha Parana as the Executive Chef pre-opening Fari Islands, the luxury brand’s debut in Maldives. He started his new role with The Ritz-Carlton Maldives on 01st April 2020.

Nishantha hails from Sri Lanka with a culinary family background. He commenced his career in culinary arts at the age of 22 in Sri Lanka. During that time, he worked with hotels like Ramada Renaissance and Hilton Colombo. Nishatha then moved to Oman to work for Salalah Holiday Inn.

Nishantha made his way to the Maldives in 1996 to join Baros Holiday Resort as an acting Executive Chef for an year. At Baros Holiday Resort, he was responsible for four outlets including staff dining. During his many years in the Maldives, Nishantha has held various of senior leadership roles for the pre-opening of the Maldives Hilton Rangali Island. He worked at Huvafen Fushi by Per AQUUM for seven years and then an year with Jumeirah Vittaveli.

In 2013, Nishantha returned to Sri Lanka to work for a 6-month contract as a Consultant Chef at Water’s Edge, a catering enterprise in Colombo. In 2014, he moved back to Maldives joining One&Only Reethi Rah. He led a team of over 100 chefs to create memorable culinary experiences for high clienteles at the ultra-luxury, all-villa resort in Maldives.

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Nishantha pursued the role of Culinary Director for The Small Maldives Island Co where he oversaw the culinary operations of Amilla Fushi and Finolhu Resorts for more than 03 years.

Nishantha has over 30 years of diverse culinary experience at some of the finest luxury hotels and resorts in Maldives, Oman and Sri Lanka. His extensive knowledge and expertise in the culinary arts along makes him perfect for his role as the Executive Chef at pre-opening The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands.

Marriott International announced the debut of Ritz Carlton brand in Maldives, Fari Islands to be open late 2020 with a 100-villa resort amid white sandy beaches.
