After two months of almost all business units being shut down, TUI is ready to resume travel activities in Germany and Europe.

After two months of almost all business units being shut down, TUI is ready to resume travel activities in Germany and Europe. The leading hospitality group also developed a 10-point catalogue for increased hygiene and protection measures currently being implemented in TUI hotels worldwide.

TUI has been strengthening their operational capacity and preparing for the resumption of the travel and hospitality industry. In the coming days, the group’s first hotel on Sylt and in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will open doors for guests. TUI hotels and clubs in European destinations are also ready to welcome guests.

The safety and well-being of our guests and employees around the world continue to be our top priority. Summer holidays in Europe can now gradually be made possible again – responsibly and with clear rules. Organised travel offers great advantages especially now: With the trusted TUI brand, we offer safety, local support and, in special situations, guarantee the return journey home.”

Fritz Joussen, CEO of the TUI Group

The world-renowned hospitality group suspended all operational travel activities during March 2020 due to the global pandemic. According to the CEO of TUI Group Fritz Joussen, the company was economically successful prior to the crisis and hopes to be the same by the end of the crisis. To ensure the continuation of the strong operational performance in a globally weakened market post COVID-19, TUI has implemented a global program with extensive cost-cutting measures.

In 2019, the group launched the new strategy to become more digital at all levels. With the current plans in motion, the group’s transformation to a digital platform will accelerate. According to Fritz Joussen, TUI will emerge from the crisis stronger but it would not be the same TUI. The group will find a different market environment than before which requires cuts in investments, costs, size as well as in their global presence. TUI will be leaner than before, more efficient, faster and more digital.

We will implement our “asset right” strategy, which we launched in 2019, even more purposefully and quickly. We will become more digital at all levels – in particular, we will accelerate the expansion of digital platforms in new markets and for our activities in the destinations. We are targeting to permanently reduce our overhead cost base by 30 percent across the entire Group. This will have an impact on potentially 8,000 roles globally that will either not be recruited or reduced. In order to return to the successful development of the past years after the crisis, we must now implement the realignment quickly.”

Fritz Joussen, CEO of the Group

TUI Group is the world’s leading integrated tourism group operating in more than 100 destinations around the world. Based in Germany, the TUI Group’s share is listed in the FTSE 250 index and in the German open market.

Iain and Debbie’s Lifelong Love for Reethi Faru Resort

Reethi Faru Resort loyal guests Iain and Debbie

Today, we’re sharing the heartfelt stories of a sweet couple who have grown to love the Maldives, specifically the luxurious resort: Reethi Faru.

Meet Iain and Debbie. Back in 2005, they discovered Mahagony Group by chance, which kicked off their journey with Reethi Faru Resort. Since then, they’ve felt a deep connection to this beautiful island and the exceptional hospitality it offers, bringing them back to this tropical paradise year after year.

Debbie recently celebrated her 40th visit to the Maldives, and Iain has visited even more times than her! What love they have for this island getaway! For Iain and Debbie, the Maldives is more than just a vacation spot. It’s become a part of their story, almost like a second home. Here, they’ve not only experienced the natural beauty of the Maldives but also built lasting, meaningful connections with the resort and its people.

Building Lasting Bonds

“When we arrive, it feels like we’re meeting family at the end of a very long journey,” says Debbie. It’s no surprise that they have visited Reethi Faru Resort repeatedly, celebrating holidays, birthdays, and special occasions, all while forming strong bonds with the friendly staff. Their consistent loyalty to the resort highlights the exceptional service and the warm sense of community they have experienced there.

As retirees, Iain and Debbie enjoy the luxury of spending up to three months at a time at Reethi Faru. During these extended stays, they’ve found the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. They spend their days exploring the vibrant underwater world of the island swimming through coral reefs and encountering diverse marine life, or unwinding at the Coconut Spa, tucked away in a tranquil coconut grove that offers pure serenity.

A Place for Adventure and Relaxation

The pair also love indulging in the exquisite dining options available. “We know everyone who works in the restaurants, and they treat us like friends. Those little touches like trying something new or receiving a taster dish make all the difference,” explains Iain. Whether they’re enjoying a laid-back meal with views of the ocean or savoring a more intimate dining experience, every dish is a celebration of the island’s flavors and the culinary creativity that makes dining here unforgettable.

Iain and Debbie’s bond with Reethi Faru goes beyond the activities or the beautiful surroundings. It’s the emotional connection they’ve built with the resort’s staff and the feeling of belonging that makes each visit truly special. “Every time we leave, I cry all day, even though I know I’ll be back soon. It’s always hard to leave such a wonderful place,” Debbie admits.

Their love for Reethi Faru Resort has also inspired others. Over the years, they’ve shared their joy of the resort with friends, many of whom have joined them on their trips. “We’ve recommended Reethi Faru to so many of our friends, and it’s become a place we all return to together,” says Iain. After 30 visits to Reethi Faru, it’s no surprise they continue to come back. Each trip offers new memories and strengthens the bond they’ve built with the island and its people.

Reethi Faru isn’t just a resort for Iain and Debbie. It’s more than just a destination; it’s part of their story, a place where they can escape the every day and find joy in both the small moments and grand adventures. And as they look forward to their next visit, it’s clear that Reethi Faru Resort will always hold a special place in their hearts.
