Maldives Extends On-Arrival PCR Test Validity to 96 Hours

Health Protection Agency of the Maldives has extended the entrance PCR test validity period from 72 hours to 96 hours. The PCR test is mandatory before tourists’ departure to the Maldives. The extension of the PCR test’s validity period comes as great news to long-distance travelers.

The Maldives made it mandatory for all tourists and other travelers entering the Maldives for to present a negative PCR certificate result for COVID-19 from 10th September 2020 onward. HPA made this decision as a safety measure for travelers. Resorts in the Maldives are also offering PCR exit screening to guests without having to travel out of the resorts.

In addition to that, the PCR certificate should include the name and address of the laboratory that performed the testing. And also result of the test, date of testing as well as name and signature of the issuing officer. Travelers need to submit the PCR certificate to Maldives Immigration via its IMUGA platform when filling the Traveler Health Declaration. Travelers should submit the self-declarative health declaration within 24 hours before travelers’ departure to the Maldives. Furthermore, all travelers, including tourists; visa holders, and Maldivians are obliged to submit the Traveller Health Declaration.

The naturally self-isolated Maldives presents some of the best resorts in the world. Tourists need a confirmed booking at a registered tourist facility before arrival to the Maldives. Likewise, this requires for processing guests’ visas. The Maldives provides guests a 30-day tourist visa (for all nationalities) upon their arrival. Thus, holidaymakers will not be subject to quarantine measures on their arrival.

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives are slowly increasing since the border reopening on 15th July 2020. As per the latest statistics from the Maldives Immigration, the island archipelago welcomed over 18,867 arrivals since the border reopening.
