The talk behind Apple’s new Airpods Max is the price tag. But, can features of the all-new Airpods Max make it a great headphone for travel?
When I first heard of the $549 price tag, I thought to myself there’s no way I’m spending that much on a headphone. But, then again I knew there would be people who would get it just because its Apple. However, after diving deeper into these new headphones I thought maybe there not so bad.
Apple’s Airpods Pro feature an ‘odd’ case. So, we don’t know if this would be convenient for everyone compared to other headphones which can be easily folded. While the Design looks questionable, reviewers say the Airpods Max is surprisingly comfortable.
On the other hand, the headphones’ build quality is also impressive and lives up to the price tag here. Apple calls the design ‘A radically original composition’. But if you’re planning to travel with your Airpods Max, the most important thing you’d want is noise cancelling. Personally, I can’t get on a flight with good noise-cancelling headphones.
CNET reports “The AirPods Max do sound impressive, like high-end headphones, with tight bass, natural mids, crisp highs and a wide soundstage for a closed-back headphone”.

YouTubers and critics have also praised the noise cancelling on the Airpods Max. Many even say AirPods Max’s noise cancelling is the best there is now. Hence, slightly ahead of the much cheaper Sony WH-1000XM4.
Despite that, I personally feel the $549 Airpods Max being ‘slightly’ being better than the $350 Sony WH-1000XM4 doesn’t really count as a big win for Apple. But, I’ll applaud the Airpods Max for being the best noise-cancelling headphone out there now.
So, if you can afford to spend $549 for a headphone, the Airpods Max will definitely offer the ‘best’ in terms of audio quality and comfort. But, for much cheaper you can get Sony’s WH-1000XM4 which is still an amazing pick (or the better pick if you’re using an Android).
