01. How did you begin your career?

I think after five years into this industry then I realised, like okay, this is something I’m becoming very passionate about, and I love doing this job because it’s never doing the same thing. So it’s always very fun.

02. Can you share the one key lesson from your 24-year journey in the hospitality industry that you believe every aspiring hotelier should know?

Always listen to your superiors, your leaders, and your managers, and follow them until you understand the whole process. That’s the best advice I can give you. I think that will help you to achieve your goals and to reach where you want to be In your life.

03. You mentioned the importance of positivity in your career. What’s one practical tip you can offer to maintain a positive outlook, even in challenging situations?

It’s all about opportunity. Every situation, if it is positive or negative, it gives you an opportunity to enhance the experience. Either it’s for guests or for your islanders, your team. So that’s how I look at in all situations.

04. As the new Resort Manager, what’s your vision for Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll, and how do you plan to inspire your team to achieve it?

My vision for Finolhu is to become the number one resort in  Maldives and I think that we are taking the right step towards that in the last four years since Sea Side took over. And for the islanders, I want to be Finolhu that everyone wants to join.

05. In your various roles in the industry, you’ve learned from mentors and colleagues. Can you share a memorable piece of advice that has stuck with you and guided your professional growth?

I mean one thing that I have learned throughout my career is, and this is something that one of my mentors told me, that you can never manage human beings. You can always inspire. And that is something I try to do every day.

06. What’s one word of advice you would like to give to anyone looking to join the industry?

Be always grounded, like, never be so proud of yourself that you lose yourself, actually. So be always humble no matter who you are facing, and go forward. That’s how it should be.

The first-ever Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment Commenced in the Maldives!

Velana Airport has announced the first-ever sea-to-air cargo transshipment along with Turkish Airlines, Maldives Ports Limited and Maldives Customs Service. This major step in cargo transhipment in the Maldives was celebrated on the 17th of May at the airport.

The  MoU for the ‘Sea to Air’ cargo transshipment services were signed earlier this year, on March 30th. With this, Turkish Airlines became the cargo partner to facilitate the service along with the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

With the transshipment service, MPL can easily transport goods through both seas as well as air travel. In addition to catering to the needs of businesses and industries in the region, this will also help expedite the carrying of goods from one place to another. According to the Turkish Airlines’ Regional Cargo Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Bilal Okur, this will help the airline’s target to develop the Maldives into a sea-to-air transshipment hub.

This innovative logistics solution is expected to significantly boost the efficiency of cargo movement. Additionally, this may also see the enhancement of trade opportunities for the Maldives.
