Le Méridien Maldives appoints new executive sous chef

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa appoints Muthuraman Subramanian, also known as Chef Muthu, as the new Executive Sous Chef. Bringing more than 17 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Chef Muthu will elevate the resort’s culinary offerings with his innovative approach and expert leadership.

Chef Muthu shared his enthusiasm for this new chapter:

In his new position, Chef Muthu will oversee the resort’s diverse dining offerings. He plans to craft innovative menus that blend the unique flavors of the Maldives with international culinary trends.

A Distinguished Culinary Career

Chef Muthu has worked at prestigious hotels around the world. He has built a reputation as a culinary leader through key positions at renowned properties like Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Muscat, NH Collection Oasis Doha, and JW Marriott Marquis City Centre Doha. These roles allowed him to gain valuable experience in leadership. Throughout his career, Chef Muthu has excelled in large-scale operations, from pre-openings to menu innovations.

A notable highlight of his career occurred at “Brasserie Quartier” at The St. Regis Dubai. There, Chef Muthu led the restaurant to earn the title of “Best French Restaurant” from BBC Good Food Middle East twice. He designed creative menus and managed diverse culinary teams, earning him global recognition.

Chef Muthu’s expertise extends beyond menu creation and team management. He has overseen high-volume dining, managing up to 2,200 daily covers while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. As a certified HACCP Level 3 professional, he has honed his skills in kitchen operations, stock control, and staff development. These skills reinforce his comprehensive understanding of the culinary world.

MIC Group announces the appointment of Mohamed Nisham as its new Chief Financial Controller, a strategic move aimed at enhancing the company’s financial operations. Nisham, a seasoned professional in financial management within the hospitality sector, brings significant expertise in areas such as financial strategy, automation, and improving operational processes. In his new role, he will oversee the financial operations across all business divisions, working to ensure both growth and financial stability for the company.

Nisham holds an MBA in Accounting & Finance from the University of Suffolk and has built a remarkable career in financial leadership within the luxury hospitality industry in the Maldives. His experience includes expertise in financial planning, cost control, and regulatory compliance. Prior to this role, Nisham served as the Financial Controller at Oaga Art Resort, where he played a key role in enhancing the resort’s financial structure. Additionally, his previous positions at Amilla Maldives and Anantara Kihavah Villas further highlight his skill in managing finances at high-profile luxury properties.
